Swimwear Designer Sylvie Cachay was Strangled and Drowned

Nicholas Brooks, (the son of sleazy Oscar-winning songwriter Joseph Brooks) was charged with her murder. A friend said Cachay and Brooks, who had been dating for about two months, had a rocky relationship. “I don’t think it was a healthy relationship,” said the pal. “I just think he’s unstable from what she’s had told me.”

The details of his indictment are sealed and will not be revealed until his next court appearance on January 4, said Manhattan District Attorney spokeswoman Joan Vollero.
A friend said Cachay and Brooks, who had been dating for about two months, had a rocky relationship. “I don’t think it was a healthy relationship,” said the pal. “I just think he’s unstable from what she’s told me.”

Video surveillance from the hotel had showed Nicholas Brooks leaving the room several times. Between 1 a.m. and 1:45 a.m. he went to the rooftop restaurant to eat a steak, the official said. He finally left the building with his coat at about 2:15 a.m., the official said. When he returned, he told detectives he had gone out drinking and had left his girlfriend asleep in bed, the official said.

An autopsy indicated that the designer suffered injuries that were consistent with neck compression, court records show. Cachay suffered internal hemorrhaging, injuries to her scalp and cuts to her lips and mouth, the documents said.

“Sylvie Cachay was one of those rare individuals who truly sparkled when she spoke,” said publicist Kate Godici. “She will be deeply and painfully missed, yet celebrated, honored and never forgotten.”

Isabelle Caro

Although the exact cause of death was unknown, it was suspected that Caro had died as a consequence of her long term illness, of some 15 years – anorexia.

Caro was the feature of a shock Italian advertising campaign back in 2007 designed to spread the message of the horrors behind anorexia. Naked images of the model were displayed on billboards and newspapers across Italy, for an Italian fashion house.
