Mary Jo White To Lead SEC

President Barack Obama on Thursday nominated Mary Jo White, a former U.S. attorney who built a reputation prosecuting white-collar criminals, terrorists and mobsters, to lead the Securities and Exchange Commission. The agency has a lead role in implementing changes on Wall Street.

Obama also named Richard Cordray to stay on as head of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The president used a recess appointment last year to bypass congressional opposition and install the former Ohio attorney general as head of the bureau. That appointment expires at the end of this year.

DJG Baby Car Seat Recall

Baby car seats made by Dorel Juvenile Group [DJG] have been subject to a recall. Reports suggest that the total seats being recalled amount to over 750,000. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration made the announcement that the car seats were being recalled due to safety restraint issues.

There was a significant rise in the sales of organic foods in France last year of around 10%. The total spend exceeded $4.6 billion. Elisabeth Mercier, director of Agence Bio said “Once you eat organic food you tend to buy more.”
