Ambam the Walking Silverback Gorilla

Ambam the Walking Silverback Gorilla
Ambam is a Western Lowland silverback is able totally stand up straight as well as take a stroll across his enclosure, completely upright. While almost all gorillas can walk on their hind legs to an extend, it is very rare to find one that can actually do so for any more than a couple of strides.
Staff at the animal park think that he may be trying to gain a height advantage over other gorillas in the park. Standing upright also gives him the ability to both reach his food better and carry more of it.
When fully upright Ambam is over six feet in height. He was born at Port Lympnes sister park, Howletts, in 1990. He is a great hit with visitors to the park and is likely to vastly increase the visitor counts over the coming months.
